June 14 Lunch: Pad Thai & Kay Pad Prik Kingh (I think) from Tamarind Seed
A coworker and I decided to make last-minute lunch plans at Tamarind Seed. I’ve been wanting to go here for a while so I was excited! The Pad Thai was really good and so was the other dish my friend ordered - I think she got the Kay Pad Prik Kingh, but I’m not positive. I was excited to share our dishes - pushes me outside my comfort zone!
June 13 Dinner: Sushi from Aloha
On Thursday night, I had planned to pick up a little sushi from Gekko, but then it started pouring, so I decided to order sushi delivery from Aloha. It was a combo dinner and it was more sushi than I expected! I only made it through about half of this. When you factor in the soup and salad it comes with, that’s a lot of food.
June 12 Dinner: Chicken Bowl from Chipotle
Tonight was finals for the class that I teach! So glad to be done with that. I like teaching, but it’s a time-commitment and it wears me out. I’ve decided to take the summer quarter off, but am thinking that I’ll probably go back in the fall. We’ll see.
I celebrated witha a chicken bowl from Chipotle. :)
June 12 Lunch: Chicken Caesar Salad from Dressed
A coworker and I ran out during lunch to pick up some stuff for a surprise baby shower for one of our colleagues. While we were out, I dragged him over to Dressed to pick up a salad. I used to go here all the time when I worked at a former job. It’s sooo good.
They’ve upped their ante in terms of salad options. But this was what I always got back in the day, so I had to give a nod to my old school order. Boring, I know. Especially with some of the awesome options they have now! I’ll have to go back again soon. And…they also deliver to my building!!
June 11 Dinner: Tacos + Fried Green Tomatos from Jim & Nick’s BBQ
I had a really stressful day on Tuesday so I met up with BFF and her hubby for some margaritas. Jim & Nick’s has Taco Tuesday with $3 margaritas - YES. I got a beef brisket and fried chicken taco based on BFF’s recommendation. I liked the brisket, but was just ho-hum about the chicken. The tomatoes were the bomb!
June 10 Dinner: Turtle Stew, Sauteed Spinach and Mushrooms
When I visited my dad, he hooked me up with some turtle stew he picked up at his game and fish club. It’s been a really long time since I’ve had turtle stew - it’s bitch to clean the turtle meat and a turtle doesn’t yield a whole lot.
This stew was okay, but I’ve had much better. I recall it being much creamier. This may have looked creamy in the photos, but this one was more brothy than creamy. I ended up adding my mushrooms into the stew to give it more depth and body. That ended up making it pretty good!
