About Me

Hi there, I’m Sarah, the author behind Whole Food Half Ass.

How This Blog Got Started

At the beginning of 2012, I was talked into trying Whole 30. I was skeptical of the Paleo diet and just not overly interested. Give up cheese? Nope. Give up bread? Are you kidding?

But I ended up attempting and succeeding at the Whole 30 diet. It wasn’t easy but the results were undeniable – I lost nine pounds total, and dropped a dress size. All that in 30 days, and I was convinced that all these people pitching the caveman lifestyle must be onto something.

About My Diet

When not doing the Whole 30 diet, I loosely follow the Paleo or Primal diet. I’m better at keeping up the diet when I’m making food at home (Whole Food…), but not as successfully when eating out (…Half Ass). For two years, I posted what I ate for every single breakfastlunch, and dinner. As of 2014, I’ve chosen to go more quality vs. quantity

About My Fitness

I like to vary my fitness a bit to keep things from getting boring. In 2011, I trained for and completed a half marathon. I also had a personal trainer when I was living in Charlotte. In second half of 2012 and the first half of 2013, I picked up Crossfit. I loved it…until I got injured. My injury could have happened anywhere, so I don’t blame the sport, but the hip injury I sustained was significant enough that continuing wasn’t in the cards for me.

The second half of 2013 and the first half of 2014, I did a lot of yoga. But now, I’m about to embark in a new chapter of fitness: Orangetheory. So far, it’s great! Very much like CrossFit, but with no barbells and a little less “balls to the wall.” Hope to see great results with it in the next coming months.
